Here to Serve
By Gary Morris
Everywhere you look, life is played out before us. Dramatic presentation has been used for centuries as entertainment, a means of conveying ideas and in the telling of stories.
As I began praying about the possibilities of featuring drama, I had many questions. The Lord answered every one of them so clearly, and, to agree with a song lyric, I believe He holds an exclamation point for every question mark we give Him! Hopefully, here in these pages, you will agree.
While there are various forms of drama--acting, puppetry, pantomime, human video, skit, reader's theatre, etc.--drama basically exists for the church in two formats: From within the congregation and from without.
In this issue, we will be looking primarily at those who bring drama into the church. These are the folks who write, publish and perform drama for the church at large. They helped answer all the questions I had, and more! I have a better understanding of how drama can be delivered in the church, and how the Spirit can use drama in the church.
I really believe you will enjoy this section, and that you will take away some ideas, resources, and contacts for your church and ministry. That's what we're here for, to serve you.
Now, in our efforts to serve you, I want you to be informed about our publication, and share a few facts about The Communicator that you may not know:
- The Communicator is in its eighteenth year of publication and circulation, serving thousands of Christian church music and media staff and others, all across the United States of America, free of charge.
- The cost of printing and mailing The Communicator magazine is offset by its merchants-the people and businesses whose products and services you see represented on these pages. Please support them and when you do, be sure to let them know you saw it them in The Communicator!
- We strive thoughtfully and prayerfully to make this magazine a tool to enhance your ministries. This so often comes about from the submission of articles we receive from you, the reader. Of course, we'll always have features from the composers, arrangers, and performers of choral and spiritual music, as well as a staff of writers pointed to specific ministry function. However, the most unique function of The Communicator is the sharing of ideas, edification and encouragement by the readers to the readers.
- We assemble each issue prayerfully and under the direction of the Holy Spirit and ask each writer to do the same when submitting materials for consideration.
- Many of the folks who submit articles have at one time or another thought, "they wouldn't use mine," or, "it's not good enough."
Maybe you have a story to share, a victory to relate, an idea that worked, or a heartwarming story of God's deliverance, provision or protection. Let's face it: we all have a story to share...it's called testimony. Will you share yours?
No, I can't guarantee you that it will be published. But I can guarantee you that we will review it with open minds and hearts, sensitively and honestly. And if we do run it, I can guarantee you that it will bless many lives and ministries.
- We never sell, rent, or offer your names or addresses for any purpose to anyone, although we receive many offers and requests to do so.
