Convictions
By Gary Morris
I have to admit the title is deceiving. I am actually writing from a deep conviction of knowing that there are many who receive The Communicator, and read it faithfully, but never have allowed us-J&J Music-the privilege of serving your music needs, or the privilege of praying with and interceding for you. After updating and editing the mailing list recently, I was convicted (not condemned, Romans 8:1) about the fact that some of you who enjoy The Communicator probably do your music business somewhere else. Maybe you used to deal with us, maybe you never have. Either way, I would just like to take this opportunity to urge you to allow us the privilege of serving your ministerial needs, including music.
You may not be aware of this, but The Communicator is just one of J&J Music's services-FREE to music leadership in churches, I might add. We also have the most extensive, easy-to-navigate, and refreshing website for church music leadership: J&JOnLine-www.jjonline.com. If you haven't browsed there, you are missing the church musician's internet headquarters for music, resources, education, and more, including Worship America conference information and registration.
Which brings me to another bullet point in my list of convictions: Worship America conferences. Where else in the free world can you attend an event where you leave refreshed, educated, ministered to, prayed for, more knowledgeable AND economically sound within your budget? The point is, there is nowhere else other than a Worship America conference, and if you haven't attended lately, well you know where that void, burned-out feeling is coming from now!
And if all this wasn't enough to whet your ministry whistle, our main business is still to do one thing: To serve you-the servants of God in music ministry, in whatever capacity that may be-by providing the music and support you need to effectively serve your choirs and congregations.
Well, fresh off the heels of Easter and then MUSICalifornia, we find ourselves heading straight into PATRIOTIC season...Yes, that's right, all Red, White and Blue, and this year includes a lot of Navy Blue, Olive Drab and Desert Camouflage as well. My prayer is that by the time this issue mails, our men and women of the Armed Forces of the United States of America and the Coalition Forces of our Allies are safe at home, and that God's great name has been proclaimed mightily throughout the nations to bring glory and honor to Himself alone. He alone is worthy and the battle belongs to Him.
I love heroes. They have a way of bolstering our pride, kindling our confidence, and drawing us together. They are to be honored, whether the hero is a dad who forsakes an additional $12K per year in favor of attending ballgames and ballerina performances, a front liner fighting for freedom on the opposite side of the globe, a mom who chooses to invest in her family rather than climb corporate or social ladders, or a minister who chooses to advance the kingdom of God. Heroes are everywhere and almost the totality of them go unnoticed, and you'll only ever hear about a very, very select few.
The Hero that everyone needs to know about is Jesus Christ-the greatest hero of all. Let's face it, He has conquered the greatest enemies to ever be defeated, hell and death; He is the ultimate Liberator; He has the Divine Coalition with the Father and the Spirit; He is the Supreme Commander. I pray He is exalted above all else in all our celebrations this summer.
Be sure to check out a new feature by Brad Herring, Tech Talk, where Brad reviews technical products and resources that can bless and enhance your music and media ministries.
I'll end by saying that I would consider it a privilege to hear from you, and may God bless you according to His word and His will.
Arrested by Grace,
Gary
