Get the Picture? (Free TV/VCR!)

By Gary Morris

Gary MorrisIn Jeremiah 29:11 the Lord says "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope." Future and a hope are what the Lord has provided to and , the Soviet-born, adopted children of Simeon and Beth Nix, of Bell Shoals Baptist Church in Brandon, Florida.

When I contacted Simeon about writing this piece, he was overjoyed and quickly began telling me some of the mighty ways in which the Lord not only orchestrated the whole process, but how He even used Simeon in Russia to witness to over 750,000 people there, in the Russian Syndicated Newspaper! Read all about it in: Journey of Grace, our Cover Story.

Microwave popcorn. A globe. Forty feet of rope. Human statues. Evangelism. What do these things have in common? Nothing, unless you have passion and vision. Or you're Keith McClung, who has both, for utilizing drama in church to reach lost people. Many of you have contacted us and Keith about his ideas in previous issues. Write us back to let us know how you're using his ideas in your church. We'd both LOVE to hear from you! You can find more of Keith's great ideas on our website, J&J OnLine, in Center Stage.

Be sure to check out the new OCTAVE section (page ), where you will find some of the very latest music releases, technology, ideas and resources to help you in your ministry.

This issue concludes Randall Hays' series, "Understanding and Confirming Your Call," where he has taken us on a journey through the life of Gideon to help us get out of our comfort zones and into the blessing zone. As Randy so aptly puts it, "everything looks impossible to those who never try anything." I hope you've enjoyed and gleaned from Randy's articles. We appreciate him and his contributions so much!

We hit the same nail with several different hammers in this issue, and Keith McClung, Chuck Weatherford and Randy Hays all allude to this in their articles-You gotta be flexible, willing to take risks and do things differently. I believe this is not only good for business and ministry but personally as well, for our God--in Whom we know there is no variableness or shadow of turning-is a God of change, and delights in the creativity of His children as they walk through life with Him. That's why I urge you to dare to be different, like the Acts 15:26 men, of whom it is recorded that they "hazarded," "gave up" or otherwise risked their lives for the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. You see, a dead person is not afraid of taking chances, for they have died to the flesh and its emotions. Okay, sermonette over…

Okay, now about the free TV/VCR. What would you change about The Communicator? What things do you like? Dislike? Do we keep you informed, or leave you lacking? I want to hear from you! Endeavoring to make this publication serve your needs better, we want to bend our considerations to allow you, the reader, to make your mark. We want to give you the opportunity to become a consultant editor, in participating in our online survey, posted at J&J OnLine, at: Help us "Get the Picture," by telling us what we do right, wrong, or otherwise, as well as any ideas or concerns you may have. This will also allow us to glean a little more information about you and your church, giving us better insight into your ministries and help us understand more thoroughly our audience in general. This hopefully will make a better publication to more adequately serve you and fit your needs, as well as help our marketing clients "get the picture" of The Communicator. AND we will enter your name in the drawing for the grand prize of a 19" TV/VCR! Plus, we will send you a beautiful J&J writing instrument just for entering. So, will you take a few moments and help us out? We'd sure appreciate it. And who knows…you just might be the winner of a new TV/VCR! Get the picture?
