EX-Fretfully Yours
By Gary Morris
Talk about a crunch! It is difficult to believe how close we are to print time, and I'm just now writing this! Even more difficult to understand is how the Lord has pulled this issue off. Every issue is a testament to His greatness and faithfulness, but I'll be honest, I have been fretful over this one. I didn't see how we were going to have a magazine, much less be on time with it. But once again, God blesses around ignorance and over shallow faith, and amazingly, it is one of those issues which just meshes and flows incredibly well, as if the writers contacted each other beforehand! Bless the Lord!
Let me share a little bit of what I'm talking about. For beginners, until 3 or 4 days ago, we did not have a Cover Story. Talk about fretful! Then I received Jerry's article, and it just nailed me--not only the content--but how it just seemed to put a wrap on many of the other articles and ideas herein.
And Steve has written a most excellent piece: Authentic Worship. Don't just read the article. Invite it in to fellowship with your spirit. You'll be glad you did.
With this issue we also welcome and introduce a new series entitled Ministry Insights, written by Don McMinn. His contributions will address a topic which is often left by the wayside like the man journeying down from Jerusalem to Jericho: Relationships-Developing Good People Skills. You will not want to miss any of Don's material, as he presents the key to this development from the "one anothers" of Scripture. Good stuff.
Do you use video as a tool in your ministry? Do you need permission to do so? You need to read Video in the Church, by Rod Rachinski of CCLI. You may be in violation and completely unaware of it.
Need a great idea for a choir fundraiser? Check out Choir Members Work for Peanuts, by Curtis Downey. Having raised over $20,000 for missions in just over 2 years, Curtis and friends from the choir and men's ministry of Bethlehem UMC in Moneta, VA really know the "nuts and bolts" of making this work, and they share their ideas with you.
So what's cooking in your ministry? Why don't you drop me a line or two about it, whether it be about physical food or spiritual? Who knows but that it might just end up in future pages of The Communicator!
